Can Reaper directly load a Guitar Pro file (*.gp) and read "all" the note data to populate a set of tracks. Is it possible to effectively use Guitar Pro with Reaper? These won't be transferred to Reaper and the Reaper score editor will be missing all the information I carefully added to the GP file. In Guitar Pro it is possible to add Lyrics and various text notations. For example, tempo information seems to not export from GP properly so importing always requires manually fixing the BPM.ģrd, there is data loss.

I'm not sure which types of data transfer from GP export and Reaper import, of either XML or MIDI, so if I add a guitar bend or a slide or any articulation in GP, it is trial and error to see if that note has an articulation when imported into Reaper. I must finalize my work in Guitar Pro because once I start editing in Reaper, there is "no way to go back" to Guitar Pro, as the score versions will be out of sync with each other.Ģnd, it is an error-prone process. Older versions of the file format are *.gpx, *.gp5, etc.Įxporting Guitar Pro -> MusicXML or MIDI -> Importing to Reaper -> Editing in Score Editor or MIDI Rollġst, it is a one-way process. There are several apps which can read multi-track Guitar Pro files to synthesize audio. Guitar Pro uses a file format which is public information (either reverse engineered, or published by the company).

I want to mix these in Reaper, apply VSTi, etc, and render as mastered tracks.

Rock songs with drums but it also does piano, orchestral, and vocals reasonably well.
